Life Time Achievement Awards

This award confer to honour Agriculturist/professionals who have made outstanding professional contributions at the national level as evident from patents/technologies developed, published work and/or promoting the discipline of life sciences. The award is presented once in 2 calendar years and carries a Gold Medal and Citation

Eligibility

  • The award is open to all Indian Scientists who have worked in India in the field of Agriculture and allied sciences or applied sciences.
  • The contributions of the awardees should have national/international impact with special reference to underprivileged people, class and farming communities.
Mode of Selection
A panel of judges nominated by the Executive Council of the Society from time to time recommends the name of the awardees. The recommendation of the judges is sent to the Executive Council, whose decision shall be final. However, this award will not be of routine and regular nature. If the panel of judges is of the opinion that there is no suitable person for the nomination of this award for any biennium, the award will not be conferred. The award is presented to the awardees usually during the annual General Body Meeting of the Society. The recipient of the award is expected to deliver a talk based on his contributions during the active service.
Young Scientist Award
The Executive Council appoints a search committee comprising 5-6 members amongst the Professionals and Researchers members. The selection of young scientist award by search committee is based on the professional experience, personal knowledge of the members or the committee may invite the biodata of all those being considered for these awards. The committee submits the recommendations to the Executive Council for final approval.
 
Best Ph.D Thesis Award

This award is given to motivate high quality fundamental and applied research to Ph.D. scholars in the field of Agriculture and allied sciences. This is an annual award open to all Indian students. Only those theses are considered for this Award for which final viva-voce is completed by 31st December of the year for which the award is applied. The award carries a citation and cash prize of Rs.2000.

Research workers in the field of Agriculture and allied sciences interested to apply for this Award are required to send their applications through proper channel along with a copy of thesis submitted by them for their Ph.D. degree together with 6 copies of synopsis, highlighting the significance of research. The nomination should be accompanied by a certificate from the concerned Head of the Department that the research work of the candidate has been a significant factor in obtaining the data presented in the thesis leading to the conferment of Ph.D. degree.

All the nominations together with appropriate certificates should be sent to Secretary through the concerned Head of Department by the notified date to be announced while inviting nominations.

All the theses submitted would be judged by a panel of judges appointed by Executive committee. The Executive Committee, whose decision is final, shall approve the report of the judges. The recipient of the award is expected to deliver an illustrated talk based on his significant research work submitted for the award.
